The transparent chairs in acrylic glass by Erwine & Estelle Laverne designed for Laverne International in the year 1962. Estelle and Erwine Laverne produced innovative wallpaper, fabrics and furniture in the 1950s. They have the vision that furniture should not interfere with the space of a modern interior.

They developed furniture with round, elegant, organic shapes made of translucite glass.

Tthe acrylic glass chairs are located in our breakfast restaurant fritz.

Junior Reporter Interviewing Mayor Frank Nopper

In celebration of the 18.th Children and Youth Festival, taking place on June 25th - June 26th in the downtown area, four children had the honor of interviewing mayor Frank Nopper in our Rooftop Lounge LENNARTS.

„How did you become mayor? And what is your favorite food?“ There were lots of questions the kids were interested in hearing the answers to. The mayor had questions for the kids too.

After this exciting interview, everyone was rewarded with a variety of chocolate covered fruits.

Salone del Mobile Milano

Over the weekend, Petra Luise and Emilia visited the design fair in Milan in hopes to find new inspiration and be on the lookout for the latest trends.

This year, the motto of the fair was sustainability. It is not only a motto, but a new way to think about and create designs. The designers that presented their products at the fair used reusable and recycled materials with minor environmental impact. Sustainability is now also a part of the logistics process when creating furniture and designs.

The fair is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, featuring around 2000 exhibitors, 600 of which are young designers under the age of 35. Here, they have the chance to present their designs.

A visit to Seifen Haag in Feuerbach

Today we visited the soap company „Seifen Haag“, located in Feuerbach, and gained insights into their manufacturing process.

Throughout the production process, the company exclusively uses essential oils and organic fats. These fine soaps are enriched with moisturizing ingredients and high-quality scents. Upon request, the soaps can also be customized to your favorite color.

We were excited about the high quality of the products, which is why we decided to have our own „EmiLu“ soap made. These will be sold in our shop.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

Our EmiLu team wishes you a lovely and reflective holiday season with your loved ones. Enjoy this time! We want to thank our wonderful guests, our team, and everyone who is a part of EmiLu for their support thus far and for the nice moments together.

You can feel the harmonic and festive vibrations throughout the hotel: We have two Christmas trees that were decorated with attention to detail. Our entire entrance and lobby area is also decorated. We’ve also baked Christmas cookies for all of our guests.

EmiLu Christmas party

Today we celebrated the Christmas spirit and kicked off celebrations with our whole team. First, we said cheers with a glass of sparkling wine, followed by a delicious Pizza.

Last but not least, team leader Michael Bräutigam held a short and emotional speech since he is so proud of all who are part of the project. Since it was a Christmas celebration, we couldn’t forget to hand out presents: all team members were excited to receive a Studio Sicily pasta bowl and matching accessories.

It was a successful evening since everyone was able to touch base and share stories before the holidays.

Gayle Swanson

Gayle Swanson

People of EmiLu

Today we would like to present our energetic and motivated Gayle Swanson.

Gayle has been a part of this project since the outset and is, together with husband Martin Klöble, in charge of controlling and finances. She has not only supported the project in her area of specialty but supported the team on site as well. Gayle was not only responsible for controlling, but she made sure that the furniture was distributed to the right rooms and helped equip the rooms.

We are very thankful for all her help, in every area!

EmiLu x GPeM Giveaway

In collaboration with our Gian Paolo e Marco neighbors , we will be giving away an EmiLu beauty set and a GPeM Mozzafiato cup set. The beauty set includes hand soap, body lotion, and body wash.

Good luck to all the contestants!

Guestbook Magazine x Basquette Game Night

The magazine „Guestbook“ hosted a dinner with the motto „crime dinner“ at our Fritz restaurant.

The game was accompanied by a delicious italian menu. The menu was created by mangiare collective.

It is safe to say that the crime was solved and it was so much fun!

Our EmiLu Christmas Bakery

Yesterday we baked some delicious EmiLu Christmas cookies.

These cookies were lovingly prepared, and we will be happy to see our guests enjoy them over the holidays.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

Christmas is coming soon. There are only four weeks left until the celebrations begin.

Last Monday we decorated EmiLu to look festive. We put up a big tree in the lobby and another one in our rooftop location. We also placed some decorations in front of the hotel.

We are excited to welcome our guests that have chosen to spend time during the holiday season with us!

The logo highlights the casual elegance of the lounge

Our rooftop lounge Lennarts finally has its own logo!

Our talented graphic designers Yoana Markova and Kati Bergmann created the logo for our EmiLu Design Hotel as well as the logo for our rooftop location Lennarts. Markova and Bergmann make a perfect duo by constantly surprising us with their creativity.

David Laukner both manufactured and mounted the logo.

We are proud that this logo underlines the casual elegance of the lounge.

IWS Real Estate Award Stuttgart

Last night we received the IWS real estate award Stuttgart in the hotel category.

We are very excited and would like to thank our entire team and everyone involved.

Without everyone’s team effort, EmiLu would not be what it is today.

BODEGA AT FRITZ

To celebrate the long shopping night, Fritz has organized a bodega night. The oval buffet table was set with festive candles and tables were set beautifully. What a great atmosphere!

Next to delicious drinks, there was a fine selection of tapas. These included marinated lamb’s lettuce topped with chopped apples, pears, physalis, roasted onions and walnuts, as well as pickled salmon with celery and apple salad.

We’re already looking forward to the next bodega event.

Korby from Korbmayer

We are pleased to have a collaboration with the traditional business Korbmayer.

Little Korby is already excited to welcome all of our younger guests.

At Korbmayer you can find anything your heart desires; toys, clothes, shoes, and great furniture.

Michael Fritz Bräutigam

Without him there would be no EmiLu.

Michael Bräutigam brought the project to life in 2014. Because he has had many years of experience in real estate, he came to the realization that downtown Stuttgart needed a hotel with unique design and high-quality furniture.

Because he knows the city and its design and developments so well, EmiLu is located in a spot that has experienced many positive changes over the last few years. This area shows the pulsating and vibrant heart of Stuttgart.

Time and again, thanks to his honesty and incredible energy, Michael is able to inspire and instill his ideas upon others and make the impossible possible.

Our entire team is proud of what he has accomplished!

P.S.: Did you know that our breakfast restaurant Fritz is named after him? We chose to name it after him because he is the breakfast chef in the Bräutigam household.

An Oasis of Relaxation

As soon as you walk into our sauna and wellness area,
it kind of feels like you’re in an oriental hammam.

Warm colors and soft fabric make for a nice, relaxing atmosphere.

Petra Luise had a lot of the decorative elements imported from Marrakech.

Sabrina Ochs

People of EmiLu.

Upon first meeting Sabrina Ochs in 2020, we were consumed by her positive and strong personality.
We are so appreciative of her honesty, hard work, and her foresight.

She loves working with people and is a confident and dedicated host!

We are proud to have her as our hotel manager and that she lives and breathes EmiLu.

Lennarts Rooftop Lounge

The Lennarts Rooftop Lounge on the sixth floor offers unique views of Stuttgart. The lounge is reserved for guests as a second living room. You are welcome to relax with a book, start your next online conference, or soak in the sun. If it’s your dream to celebrate your birthday or to come here after your wedding at city hall, don’t hesitate to contact us. We can make you an exclusive reservation.

Petra Luise Bräutigam

Every week I will introduce a member of our EmiLu team.

Who better to start with than Petra Luise Bräutigam? Petra, who’s name partly encompasses that of the hotel’s, played a big part in the interior architecture and design of EmiLu.

Nobody put as much blood, sweat, and tears into this project as her. Petra and her husband Michael have worked on this project since 2014; it is very close to their hearts. Her inimitable taste for colors, fabric, and materials played a vital role in creating a comfortable atmosphere and sense of well-being at EmiLu. Every room has a unique design. In planning out the rooms, Petra didn’t shy away from utilizing bright colors. It really has that special something.

When I asked, “what does design mean to you?”, she replied, “to me, design lies in creating rooms in a tasteful and subtle way. I like to combine both modern and classic styles without forgetting to include a certain functionality. Design is disruption, surprise, and unexpectedness.” Hearing those words has inspired all of us here at EmiLu.

GPeM - Gian Paolo e Marco

We are pleased to have been welcoming guests at Gian Paolo e Marco since September 13. Gian Paolo e Marco, or GPeM, is our neighboring bar that offers a unique design and exclusive atmosphere. While watching what’s going on downtown you are welcome to enjoy a glass of wine and a snack. Maybe an artichoke? The pink bathroom is a must-see!

The welcome gallery at the hotel

The lobby is a comfortable spot to unwind and feel at home. Our comfortable sofas await you after a long trip. Oh! Not to mention, it’s also a great spot to experience what downtown Stuttgart has to offer. Feel free to grab some fresh coffee from the Fritz lobby bar.

EmiLu’s first wedding

A celebration of love! We are honored to have welcomed our first wedding guests today. The celebration took place on a beautiful sunny day. The Fritz team provided a beautiful spread of hors d’oeuvres and sparkling wine. We wish the beautiful couple all the best for their future.

Opening day at EmiLu

Our grand opening was very emotional. Joy and relief filled the air. Petra and Michael Bräutigam’s speeches brought tears of joy. After several years of blood, sweat, tears, and highs and lows, we can finally welcome you at EmiLu in the heart of Stuttgart. Come on in and make yourself at home!

The first press conference

We had our first press conference in the Lennarts Rooftop Lounge today. Most of our team was in attendance to answer the journalists’ questions: the Blocher Partners architects, Bräutigam family, hotel directors Sabrina Ochs and Andrea Kossow, and Robin Hackh representing Fritz, our breakfast restaurant.

fire safety instruction

Yesterday, the entire team took part in a fire safety training. We learned how to act correctly in an emergency and of course fire extinguishing was also practiced.

That was pretty exciting...

Lu Suite

Our LU SUITES are something very special.

Petra Bräutigam and Blocher Partners, responsible for the interior design of EmiLu, have shown courage to colour. A unique atmosphere has been created which is not often found.

There are a total of five LU SUITES in the hotel – two red and three blue.

Fitness area

The fitness area is equipped with the newest cardio and yoga equipment. In addition we have a fitness wall where you can train with weights.
After your workout, you can go right across the hall and relax in the sauna area.

Breakfast area Fritz

Both the breakfast and the atmosphere are unique.

Our FRITZ breakfast area, equipped with designer furniture by Lignet Rose, vintage classics and custom-made benches by the carpenter Voglauer, invites you to relax and linger.

Here you will find the perfect place to sit back and relax

TEAM FRITZ

Starting in september, the founders of the Breakfast Club Feuilleton, located in the East of Stuttgart will enchant our hotel guests with their delicious breakfast offer.

Isabel, Max and Robin work with a lot of heart and attention to detail – we are very happy that they are part of EmiLu and can therefore guarantee our guests a delicious breakfast.

Our elevators - perfect for a picture to remember your stay!

The hotel has two elevators that take you from the parking garage up to the sixth. Our elevators have the same theme as the staircase: the detailing is completely black with background lighting. Both of them also have big mirrors, perfect for a picture to remember your stay with us.

Meeting room E03

Our second largest meeting room E03, with room for eight people, is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. In addition, each conference room has individualized furnishings and is designed with a unique lighting concept. Guaranteed success!

Reception and lobby bar FRITZ

Our reception area is the heartbeat of the hotel. The eye-catching front desk appears to be made out of marble. In fact, it’s made from tiles pieced together from various landscape pictures. Next to the front desk is the FRITZ lobby bar. Here you can order a sweet or savory snack and relax in our comfortable lobby.

You can also make use of our Self Check In on the left side of the front desk.

Relax your mind, body and spirit in our sauna area

Our  sauna and wellness area is inspired by ancient hamam. Here you can relax your mind, body and spirit. Free your senses and enjoy the attention to detail and high quality of our shower and changing room area.

The eye-catcher of our staircase

Our unique staircase is painted completely black. The staircase has unique detailing such as the large, illuminated numbers on each floor. With these lighted numbers, you’ll always be able to tell which floor you’re on. The numbers are one of many distinct features of our hotel!

Hotel lobby and breakfast area "Fritz"

Our lobby will be the center of the hotel – a place for hanging out and great conversation.

The reception area is located right next to the breakfast restaurant FRITZ. The ribbed concrete ceiling from the original building lends the feeling of connection with 1960s construction style to the space.

Everybody is welcome to come to FRITZ including late and early risers, hotel guests as well as the people of Stuttgart.

Our rooms will make you happy!

EmiLu has 90 (thereof 11 suites) beautiful rooms with unique finishings. The round windows between the bathroom and the sleeping area allow for natural light even in the small bathrooms. Each room is equipped with furniture tailored just for us and will have an individual flair. Here you can see the exciting process.

Color Selections!

Here is an inside look at our world of colors. With the help of our interior designers, we looked at the entire building at different times of day to see how the light played off surfaces in order to find the perfect color for each room. We think the harmony of the pastels we chose give the rooms an elegant and luxurious touch.

Windows

All our windows can be opened – both for fresh air and to get a view of the urban surroundings around the hotel. Maybe you enjoy the view while you have a cup of coffee from the coffee machine in your room.

This is where we store our designer classics

Today we want to give you a quick look at our treasure chest. To find these unique designer classes, Petra Bräutigam attended many auctions, combed the internet for rarities and even went through the shelves at junk dealers in search of those old treasures. “It was very important to us not to be all furniture off the shelf” says Petra Bräutigam,

The Original Building

The building was constructed in the 1960s and served many years as the headquarters for the Stuttgart public pools. There were various retail stores on the ground floor such as the Osiander Book Store. During the reconstruction an additional floor was added to the five floor building so that it is now six stories.

Construction Round Table

Every Monday there is a round table at the construction site. Here all the open items are discussed and questions answered - of course with physical distancing and masks!

Step by Step

The staircase covers a total of eight stories in the hotel. First the old surface was removed and the stairs were reset to the proper height (see the center photo). The new concrete stone floor recalls the 60s character of the building and has been upgraded with beautiful new railings. Soon we will be able to show you the highlight of the staircase – bet you can’t wait! Here is a hint: it has something to do with the lighting.

Welcome – take a look inside!

If you want to witness how a government administration building from the 60s was transformed into a design hotel in the heart of Stuttgart, visit us regularly at our building site blog. Here we show you the newest developments and we can observe together how our dream is slowly but surely becoming reality.

From the initial idea to the final implementation

Already in 2015, Michael Bräutigam was looking for a suitable location for a luxury design hotel in Stuttgart and was finally able to purchase the 1960s building, the former European House, at Pierre Pflümlin Platz behind the town hall. In the course of the construction work, the building was completely gutted and turned into a design oasis..

“We need a unique design hotel in our city center to fill a gap in the Stuttgart hotel market and is a heart project for me”, says Michael Bräutigam. We are excited that we can soon welcome you to your new favorite place!

Teamwork makes the Dreamwork

Behind every big project is an even bigger team. On our construction site, 33 trades are represented, which give their best every day. From architects to electricians, raw builders to builders. We're all working hard to get a little closer to our goal every day.
